Professionals helping to improve personal mental health goals
Jen from Southampton had been using prescribed medication for many years to manage her mental health condition. For two years she had been prescribed anti-psychotic medication and for many years prescribed anti-depressants. She still had thoughts of self- harm, low moods and felt paranoid. The medication was helping but it made them feel ‘zombified’ and she had gained weight. She wanted to be medication free but also have a stable mental health.
Over five months Jen worked with her local pharmacist and occupational therapist to reduce her medication and increase her activities. She did have some side effects like headaches and challenges in sleeping but after a while these settled down. Jen has now started to go out to planned activities and social events which has helped to reduced her weight and improved her physical health.
