Prosthetics Service Patient and Carer Experience Survey
NHS England in the south east (NHS SE), which commissions prosthetic services, is starting a selection process to find a new provider of, and location for, prosthetics services for patients in Kent, Medway and part of south east London.
To help inform the process, we would like to hear from you about what a good prosthetics service looks like, what matters most to you, and what is important for a future provider to consider during the planning and implementation of the service. Patients and carers are invited to each complete and submit their own survey response.
The prosthetics service sits with Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT). However, due to the specialist nature of the service, it is believed that a new provider will be better placed to provide support for patients and staff and develop the service further.
The current prosthetics service is based at Medway Maritime Hospital in a building that requires significant upgrading. So, as part of the provider selection process, we will also identify a new location for the service.
We understand changing the location of the prosthetics service may cause some concern, but working together, all NHS partners are committed to making sure there is a smooth transition with minimal disruption to patient care and colleague wellbeing.
As there are no changes to the service requirements, the future service will be commissioned on the same basis as now. Your feedback will help us understand the priorities of service users so we can make sure that it best meets the needs of those who use it.
Thank you the survey has now closed and is no longer receiving contributions.

“Hearing from patients, carers, and staff helps us understand what you would value the most in the future prosthetics limb service," said
Dr Christopher Tibbs.
"Your feedback will inform the local requirements of the service, and also will be helpful when the future provider, once chosen, is planning to setup the service. I would encourage all patients, their carers, and members of staff to get involved, and feedback your views.”
