FAQs
Why are we doing this research?
Primary Care Careers has commissioned SCW to carry out an exploratory piece of research to understand the current opportunities for career development for the existing and potential primary care nursing workforce. The research aims to determine if there is an appetite for nurses to apply their skills flexibly beyond traditional definitions of flexible working e.g. bank or agency offers and identify the potential ways in which nurses can apply their skills in different ways or different contexts.
The emphasis of this research is on working with and learning from you. We would like to hear your voice to understand the support and resources you believe are required to support your future career progression through tailored solutions.
All responses will be collated, and your answers will be used to inform Primary Care Careers strategic priorities for the nursing workforce.
Please note that all responses will be treated confidently and your details will be anonymised throughout our report. What does ‘flexi-skilled workforce’ mean?
The term ‘flexi-skilled workforce’ has been created to differentiate this concept from ‘flexible workforce’ which is synonymous with agency, locum and bank solutions. A flexi-skilled workforce is made up of a range of individuals from diverse professional backgrounds who want to work in an agile way and can adapt their skills to proactively planned, short-term projects or roles. Matching is not based on profession but on the skills required of the project or role. Flexi-skilled individuals can benefit from developing their skills and applying them in different contexts. This also creates an opportunity for individuals to get a taste of primary care and could lead to moving into substantive posts in the future.
