Information for patients

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and Thames Valley Cancer Alliance (TVCA) are working together to create films explaining what happens when a patient is due to have medical tests.

We will be creating films to show what happens in two of the more common tests:

  • a CT scan, which gives a detailed picture of inside your body
  • an endoscopy, where a flexible tube with a tiny camera is put down your throat to look at your food pipe, stomach and the upper part of your bowel.

It is important for people to understand what will happen at their appointment to help reduce anxiety and ensure they are fully informed.

Currently such films exist, but they are mainly in English. We would like to understand whether producing these films in different languages would be helpful for anyone where English is not their first language. To understand this, we are developing these films in both Urdu and Polish. We have identified these as two of the most commonly spoken languages.

To help us develop these films, we are looking for Urdu- and Polish-speakers so we can find out what we need to consider. To help us with this, please complete this this survey. It will take up to 10 minutes.
