Workforce Planning for Service Leads

Project Information

We would like to invite you to present your projects at a series of virtual events in early July to showcase your work to the wider SWAG Cancer Alliance. We are keen that your ideas for workforce improvements are shared and used as opportunities for workforce innovation.

Project Guidelines:

• Each presentation should be between 15-25 minutes long for both individual and collaborative projects.

• We encourage you to collaborate with others for your project and in preparation for the showcases we would like you to submit your project templates before Friday 21 June. For clarity, we will need one project template for each presentation.

• The project template submission for Monday 1 March must have the focus of the project with brief notes, we do not expect a complete template.

Presentations will be held between Monday 1 July and Thursday 11 July. Book your time slot via the link below. Please submit one survey per team if you are working collaboratively. Time slots will be given on a ‘first come first served’ basis and the deadline will be Monday 1 April.

The bespoke course will focus on how to make the most of your current workforce and help you plan for the future when the environment around you is changing, and budgets are tight. The key benefit to you and your organisation is the project you complete during the course. Your project will help you solve your capacity issues, understand demand and where the roadblocks are, creating a practical relevant plan to implement with your team.

Workforce planning is not simply about filling out a spreadsheet or asking for more. You’ll be supported throughout the course to think about recruitment, retention, talent management, creative scheduling and skills mix to help you navigate through your workforce challenges. [see course overview, key dates and learning outcomes]

This course is for all SWAG Cancer alliance partners across the systems, primary care networks, trusts, community and voluntary health organisations. There are 60 places available that will be allocated to a range of service leads from across different disciplines and places across the SWAG footprint.
