South East London ICB Pharmacy Workforce Model Programme

Please use this forum as an opportunity to share your views and experiences on the development of the pharmacy workforce model, and let us know what areas of development you would like to see incorporated. We wish to talk with all staff across various sectors, bands and roles to share your current experiences, thoughts and suggestions within your working environment.

The content of this forum would be split into three prevalent topics surrounding skills, opportunity and training, with a focus on:

1) The core standards of skills currently prevalent

2) Any accessible opportunities within the working environment

3) The training and educational processes available for staff

There would also be an additional section dedicated to any other mentions or conversations that you wish to be highlighted but do not fall under the three core categories.

    In order to support the development of a workforce model we are looking to understand what the core standards for pharmacist, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants are/should be.

    Please consider the follow and let us know your thoughts:

    • What level of skill is required for the various roles and sectors?
    • How are current and future employees being upskilled?
    • Does there need to be a review of the skills required for each role and sector?

    In order to support the development of a workforce model we are looking to understand what the current opportunities for development and innovation are for the pharmacy workforce across the different sectors/work environments.

    • Are the opportunities offered equitable to all staff from different backgrounds?
    • What sort of opportunities are offered?
    • How would you describe the quality of retention, recruitment and career progression?
    • Consider the development of job roles.

    • What are the strengths of the current approach to training and education?
    • Where could the current approach improve?
    • Are there any collaborations between education/training facilities and work environments?
    • Does there need to be a review of the overall curriculum?
