RPS Professional Standards for Homecare Services Consultation

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) have commissioned NHS South, Central and West (SCW) to provide support in updating and redrafting the RPS Professional Standards for Homecare Services.

The current professional standards were hosted and published by the RPS in 2013. These standards are now updated to reflect the growth and increasing complexity of Homecare Services. The development and updating of the standards have been led by an expert group and wide stakeholder consultation and engagement. Much of the repetition and detail included in the original standards has been removed from this update as the detail is now included in the RPS Handbook for Homecare Services published in 2014 and associated appendices.

There are now eight updated standards which are grouped into the following three domains:

1. DOMAIN 1 - THE PATIENT'S EXPERIENCE
2. DOMAIN 2 - GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE AND PATIENT SAFETY WITHIN HOMECARE
3. DOMAIN 3 - LEADERSHIP AND WORKFORCE

The RPS is conducting a consultation on the update of the RPS Professional Standards for Homecare Services . The RPS is seeking views and comments from Homecare Service Providers, Commissioners, all healthcare professionals and regulatory bodies, or those who are in roles or organisations that utilise these standards. The consultation period begins on 19 September 2023 and will run until 31 October 2023. Please ensure that your response reaches us before the closing date.
